The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.

I Made it Back, and I&#039;m Old!

Hey Everyone!  If you didn't notice, I made it back from my wonderful trip last week.  I did all sorts of things, and took around 250 pictures.  I've put up some of them already, and will probably keep adding a couple now and then.  Maybe just a select 10 or so out of them all.  Anyway, that's my news.

Also, it's my birthday today!  People keep telling me that I'm old, but I just don't agree with them.  Sure a quarter of a century sounds pretty old, but it's not.  Or maybe I'm just in denial :D  Do birthday's almost seem like just another day for you all?  For me it isn't really a big deal.  Some years I haven't even remembered about it until a friend told me, "Happy Birthday!"  Maybe it's because I don't get a bunch of fun little toys like when I was younger.  Just a few cards and some cake is about it now.  Not that I mind.  I quite like it that way.

Anyway, I'm done rambling now.

Birthday's do seem just like another day as we age. Mine always falls on or around Thanksgiving, so it tends to get lost in the holiday.

If only we didn't have to grow up. I miss those carefree days :).

Happy Birthday! Don't worry, you're not old yet, so enjoy them while you can. Around about 30 you kind of start to feel like you're in a car with no brakes. Sad.

In the meantime, you'd better put up more than 10 photos from all that. Your stuff is always better than you think it is, dude.
