Eurovision nightGot myself some ice cream and will be making myself compfy on the sofa so I'm ready for the big, glittery, horrible music, camp, pointless politics, drama that is eurovision. It never disappoints me. :la:
Sadly I will be alone for this one. Matt had to do a concert he didn't want to do, so I will be live tweeting (humonlazydiva) my impression of the whole shebang. :D
The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.

I don't know if you think the same way, but I have found that photos are much more appealing with borders.  So, with that in mind I decided to update all of my photos that were borderless.  And rather than just update them, I figured that I would just delete the old version and submit a new one.   Maybe that way some more people will see them...

So sorry to those of you who have already seen some of these before, and were wondering why they were showing up again.

yes borders seem to take away the "snapshot feel". I remember when i joined dA i had no sense for resizing photos either lol!

Oh, by the way you can just edit the original submission by selecting Edit Deviation and selecting Edit Image. Just upload the new updated version with borders and replace the old one. It might prove easier.

Then again, if you think it makes a really big difference to the photo and you want people to take another look, there's no harm it deleting and re-submitting it .

Borders tend to give the photo a greater clarity and draw the eye into the detail.
I've been adding them to mine too lately.
It makes a difference.
