Weekly Features - Nov 13

Journal Entry: Tue Nov 13, 2007, 10:55 AM

I have some exciting news!  I received a call from an HR person at Intel on Friday, and she officially offered me a job.  And yes, I accepted the position.  I won't be starting until the beginning of January, but it is still so nice to know that I have a job lined up.  One less thing to worry about in life.  Yesterday I had to go and pee in a cup for the drug tests, and a background check has to be run, but neither should be a problem.

A little about the job:  I will be working with the Converged Core Development Organization, which is the group responsible for making the latest processors for Intel (like the Pentiums and Core 2 chips that most of you probably have in your computers).  So I will be working on designing the newest and most sophisticated processors.  It will be a great opportunity.

Anyway, that's my news.  I'm still in a state of slight shock about it all.  I have a job!  Yeah!

CONGRATS!

And great features this week, too, by the way.

Gee, is it some high security job, or are drug tests and background checks common practice when hiring a new employee? Anyway, congrats on getting that job!

I think it's a pretty standard practice for most large companies here.

If the code doesn't work, it's probably because you need to be subscribed to DA. Kind of like you can't post thumbs in your journal unless you're subscribed.
